Lost in my own new world

My very first book signing went a little like this.

Thanks to the wonderful One Galle Face mall Sarasavi bookstore my very first book signing event was held on Monday the 15th of Dec.

Being a lifelong introvert it felt nerveracking as I got started. I have always known how I hate crowds and it did not help that my mother, sister, brother, niece, nephew was not even in the country to attend. So I stared into my husband’s eyes and mumbled over the introductions. My editor made an awesome speech that made me want to run home and write more books without toasting my nerves out here. Publishing my book with the wonderful Jam Fruit Tree Publication did come with marvellous perks, where the team stick by you through thick and thin, I noticed.

But by the time I got to reading a chapter out of my novel I melted. Inside my writing I was in my own world. I personally loved that part. Then came the signing which was so much nicer. I never knew how magical it is when book fans come and talk and ask questions too.

I was filled with love for all those who arrived. The only bit I would change the next time is to make sure I make time to talk to everyone without missing out and regretting later.

The best part is sharing stories I realized.
